21st Century Institute Presentation

I had the amazing opportunity to present to a delegation of educators from Shanghai China through the 21st Century Institute.  The Institute is located in Oak Brook, IL.  Their main goal is to grow and develop partnerships between American organizations and schools with Chinese organizations and schools.  I was brought in to present on the shifts in American education, emerging trends in technology and instructional design, and the research behind all of this.  It was an amazing day of learning for the delegation and for me!

What I found most interesting from our day together came from presenting on the shifts in our educational system.  It is one thing to live the shifts everyday.  It is another thing to share those shifts with someone else.  The more I shared, the more the group was amazed by all the changes.  “How are you handling all of these changes?  Why so many so fast?  How does the implementation really look?”  It made me realize we are in a constant state of flux in education.  As we see our new teachers join the workforce we need to be ready and aware that they are jumping into the shift, not making it.

See the 21st Century Institute’s website for more information on their programs and projects!
